JUSTIN MAKES IT A HAT TRICK OF TITLES
A large turnout of Juveniles turned out to honour our Juvenile Captain Ryan Sexton when his competition was played last Thursday evening.
Justin McCarthy emerged as the winner for the incredible third year in a row.Justin must really enjoy winning the title and as this is his last year playing as a Juvenile I think he decided he would take the cup with him into the gents section of the club next year. It's okay Justin you don't have to give the trophy back, there was no need to win it 3 years in a row to keep it!
All the club officers at the presentation spoke very highly of Ryan and complimented him on his year as Juvenile Captain.Ryan has been a credit to the club and his family the way he has carried out his duties over the year and it has been great to see a very confident young man emerge over the year.Indeed the manner in which Ryan has stood up every week to make a fine speech had many people commenting on him as a future club captain.
Ryan thanked everyone for playing in his competition and all the back up team behind Catherine for helping out with the all the competitions over the year.He especially thanked Catherine Doyle Juvenile Officer for all her help and last but not least his parents Daithi and Ailish and sister Maria for all their support.

Juvenile Officers Prize Results
27 Juveniles turned out to honour our Juvenile Officer Catherine Doyle when her competition was held recently. As has happened every year during Catherines term this was the largest number of players that have played in any competition this year,a measure of the high esteem that we all have for Catherine in the Juvenile section. In her speech Catherine thanked her family, her committee and everybody that has helped her during her time as Juvenile Officer and said that she was very proud to be responsible for a fantastic bunch of young people and has enjoyed her 3 years as Juvenile Officer.Catherine announced that this is her last year as Juvenile Officer and
with this in mind she really pushed the boat out when it came to the prizes she selected for the competition and the refreshments that she laid on.All the club officers spoke at lenght of the contribution Catherine has made to the Juvenile section of the club and she has certainly raised the bar for whoever replaces her next October.
The winner of the fantastic crystal vase for the overall was Gavin Dawson.Gavin is playing very well this year and is in amongest the prize winners on a regular basis.

FERMOY PLAYERS DOMINATE CORK TEAM
The final trial for the Cork Team was held in Fermoy on Monday night.Of the 6 places available on the team four of them were taken by Fermoy players.James Devonshire,Ryan Sexton,Daniel O'Regan and Wayne Galvin did their club proud by qualifying. This is a fantastic achievement by the Fermoy lads and we wish them every success representing their County in their upcoming games.
Monday night was also a national qualifer and again our players were well represented after the scores were calculated.James Devonshire was the leading qualifier with an incredible score of 17 under par,he was followed closely by Wayne Galvin,Ryan Sexton, and Darragh Scott.Well done to Darragh as this was his first success in a competition outside of the club.Forty of the best Juveniles in Cork took part and with only 10 qualifying places available four of them went to Fermoy players. |
